Welcome to the Educators area of Newton Schools Foundation’s web site. NSF values our district’s teachers and administrators and strives to work in partnership with them to enhance our children’s education.
Typically grant applications may be submitted in January/February for the Spring semester and April for Summer and Fall. They are reviewed by the Grants Committee and moved to a full board vote for approval.
See below for more details on how to apply for a grant.
We look forward to receiving your application!

NSF FUNDING CRITERIA
NSF is open to, and interested in, considering any creative project that falls within the mission of NSF and contributes substantially to the Newton Public Schools. NSF will consider grants for:
• New Approaches in the Classroom
NSF makes grants to teachers that allow them to try new approaches in the classroom. This helps keep curriculum engaging and dynamic and encourages teachers to incubate ideas and collaborate as they cultivate their educational practices.
• Professional Development
NSF invests in the professional growth of Newton educators so that they can expand their practice and supplement the opportunities that the district provides.
• Programs That Address Racial and Income Inequities
NSF helps all students to achieve their full potential by funding programs that address both racial and income inequities and balance the opportunities available to Newton’s diverse student population.
PROPOSAL PROCESS
Newton Schools Foundation provides a supporting grant to the Newton Public Schools in one annual lump sum. NPS Grants Administration, in conjunction with the NSF Grants Committee and full board approval, then allocates project funds based upon a proposal process. The proposal process is guided by two main principles:
- Project alignment with NPS district wide goals and objectives
- Project fits within NSF’s mission and goals (see above)
Please note – projects requesting funding for administrative work, equipment or new staff positions generally do not meet the NSF funding priorities.
